Although the weather hasn't been that brilliant this year it does seem to have given us a reasonable time on our cup days (mostly). It was great to find that 16 boats (4 of which were GPs must be something in the air to see so many in one week) had taken part in the racing today with no less than 4 father and son partnerships (all sons relegated to crew!) let's hope for the same turn out again soon.

Jim and Jan and Jan expertly kept us on track and to time providing some interesting courses, and ensuring that the 5 races were completed. Thanks to all those who willingly took their turns in the rescue boat - very much appreciated.

The wind started of slightly less than moderate then built up during the day with the inevitable result of a few capsizes, and the vago helm and crew at one time both falling out of the boat. The rain toyed with us and then went away leaving some pleasant sunshine. After finishing the 2 races in the morning we returned to the club house for Commodore Arthur's substantial soup and rolls etc. At some point in the day Stuart's young daughter Rachel appeared with some excellent flapjack - hope she comes down again since that's my favourite and it was absolutely delicious!. Also thanks to John with his dumpling which I have to say is also very good. After another 2 back to back races it was in for tea and cakes and several retirements. Race 5 saw a much smaller fleet setting out.

Once all back on dry land it was down to the serious business of prize giving, and the winners were:

1st - Angus Winchester - Vortex

2nd - Peter Collings and "ET" - GP14

3rd - Arthur and Fraser Logan - GP14.

Finally, thanks to Marion and Lesley in the kitchen for all their hard work and thanks again to Sean for the bacon.
