The Cucina Minucci Cup 2018 was a damp, windless event this year! Unfortunate considering the recent weather we have been experiencing in Lochwinnoch.
Report by our Commodore Dawn Kyne,
What to say – it was a driech damp cold windless day but we shouldn’t be complaining after our amazing recent spell of good weather. Despite the weather 10 cadets were out prior to the racing but it was a pity that they got so cold and wet which deterred all but hardy Calum from taking part in the racing, However we did manage to have 8 boats taking part although only 4 survived to the end of the day or rather mid afternoon.
Race 1 started with reasonable visibility and the wind did get up a little, however as can be seen from the photos below by race 2 the rain had really set in. After 2 relatively short races it was time for lunch. After race 3 ( 1 lap down to buoy 6 and back up to 3 ) the four survivors had more or less agreed amongst themselves since we knew Peter and Ally were the winners that enough was enough but then Steve C appeared and it was agreed a final 4th tortuous race would go ahead – needless to say the winning boat remained the same.
So the winners were:
1st Peter Collings and Ally – RS200
2nd Jon Hasler and Alice Patterson – Club RS Vision
Joint 3rd place – Brian Young and Alan Falconer (RS Vision) and Steve Davison and Dawn Kyne [GP14). Although it was agreed Brian and Alan should have 3rd place as they achieved a place higher in the 4th race.
Many thanks to Gillian Shearer for the photos.
Thanks also to Race Officer Jan and those who helped in the club house with all the food.
Four races were completed with the outright winning helm and crew of Peter and Ally, 4 wins out of 4.
There is always next year for the rest of us.
